Chessington world of adventures

During the Easter half term, we took a family visit to Chessington world of adventures for their Easter EGGSplorer event, I took the girls when they were very little so they couldn’t really remember and I used to absolutely love going as a child myself with my cousins.

We arrived around 10:30am and there were no queues to get in, we already had our tickets ready for them to scan on my phone (you can print them too) you just go through a quick bag check and you’re through.

We started off looking at the zoo and we’re quite amazed at how good it was, we saw a family of gorillas including a baby one! a lion and lioness, sea lions and got up close to giraffe on their zufari ride!

The girls love rides, but not the big ones but they had plenty of suitable rides for them, Ella’s favourite was the Gruffalo river ride adventure (which is the old bubble works ride) and Millie’s was Seastorm. We all got absolutely soaked on River rafts which is a smaller log ride, I don’t know how, but you get much wetter on that then the bigger log ride tiger rock, but we loved it, it was a lot of fun. I loved Zufari:ride into Africa as we got up close to giraffes which I absolutely loved, but we were sat on the back row of the jeep/ride and the bumping up and down was quite painful, it killed our backs, if you have any back problems I wouldn’t recommend that one, it might have been better nearer the front I don’t know, I mean it was worth it to be so close to the giraffes and I’m glad I went on it, but my back.. ouch

There’s seating dotted around the park if you want take your own picnic which many people did, and I would usually do if we were going just for the day, but we chose to make a weekend of it and stay at their safari hotel for the night.

There were plenty of food options in the park, there was the big vampire burger kitchen located next to the vampire and Gruffalo rides in wild woods, Drop’n Chicken in the forbidden kingdom, Pizza pasta in Adventure point, Captain’s fish and chips at shipwrecked coast and Smokehouse BBQ and bar at adventure point, which is we’re we chose to eat, the the girls had the hot dog childrens meal, which I wish I ordered, as the portions were big enough for an adult, the chips were really really good, I had the pulled pork brioche meal which was yummy, but not cheap, the bar had a delicious pornstar Martini!

So as I mentioned we stayed in their safari hotel, we booked a Wanyama view standard room, king with bunk beds and view room, it included 1 day EGGSplores park tickets, a buffet breakfast at their safari bar and grill restaurant in the hotel, a swimming slot at their splash pool (we booked a slot after breakfast in the morning at 10:30am which was lovely and quiet) it came in at around £400 for a family of 4.

Now I had read quite a few conflicting reviews on the rooms with a wanyama view, and I wasn’t sure if it was worth paying a little extra for it, but we took the chance and I am so so glad and happy we did. We woke up to zebra and antelope and about an hour later there were giraffes! An unforgettable memory.

We left the park at 6pm when it closed and headed over to our hotel which is literally next to the park, we got our room key and checked out our room, which was clean, spacious and modern. There was also a trundle bed under the bunk bed, which if you know my daughter Ella, was her choice of bed for the night, we dropped off our bags and headed down for dinner, silly me completely forgot to book a dinner slot at the safari bar and grill, and it was fully booked, so we went to the temple restaurant in the Aztec hotel next door but can b accessed through the safari hotel. The temple restaurant is a buffet style with something for everyone and I’m glad we ended up eating there as Ella can be quite fussy, the restaurant itself had a big tank full of piranha at the entrance which the girls loved and they also had this small tube that went around the whole restaurant that had leaf cutting ants in which was really cool, it cost £18.25 per adult and £10.35 per child and refillable soft drinks are £4 each.

I hope you’ve found this helpful, it’s definitely one to put on your list to visit, 100% recommend and would go back.

Their world of Jumanji opens 15th May which looks epic!
